Traveling with Pets on La Costeña

At La Costeña, we know your pet is part of the family. That’s why we welcome small dogs and cats aboard select flights and we provide accommodations for service and emotional support animals as well. Below, you’ll find what you need to know to prepare for a safe and comfortable journey with your furry companion.

Accepted Animals

La Costeña accepts dogs and cats for travel. The combined weight of your pet and kennel must not exceed 8 kg (approximately 17.6 lbs) for travel in the cabin.

Pet Travel Fees

• $30 USD per route for cabin pets

• Excess fee of $2.60 USD per pound for pets over 8 kg (cargo only)

• $80 USD for use of an airline-provided kennel (if needed for cargo or large support animals)

In-Cabin Travel Guidelines

Pets under 8 kg must remain in a secure kennel placed under the seat in front of you throughout the flight.

Service & Emotional Support Animals

• Accepted in the cabin if weighing 20 kg or less

• Must sit beside the passenger in a window seat

• Must wear a harness or leash at all times

• Must have appropriate certification and documentation confirming their role

• Must meet all legal health and vaccination requirements

If your service or emotional support dog weighs more than 20 kg and does not have its own kennel, you may rent one from La Costeña for $80 USD. Animals without kennels will not be permitted to board.

Cargo Area Travel for Larger Pets

Pets over 8 kg must travel in the pressurized cargo area in a kennel (either your own or one rented from the airline). This space is temperature-controlled and located within the same cabin section.

• Only 2 animals are allowed per flight

• Passengers with pets or support animals may not sit in emergency exit rows
